Whitening with Nite
White
The natural color of human teeth is rarely white.
As we get older, our teeth accumulate stains from coffee,
wine, and other foods and drinks. Our teeth become
more yellow.
Thankfully, we don’t have to live with discolored
teeth. Whitening is a safe method to lighten the color
of our teeth. During whitening, a gel material within
a tray is placed on the surface of our natural teeth
to remove stains and other discolorations. Once the
whitening is done, you will be amazed by the brightness
of your smile.
Pomerado Dental recommends Nite White,
a take home whitening solution you can use from the
comfort of your own home. If you have questions or
would like to know more about whitening, call our practice
at 858-487-4888 for more information.
InvisalignMany of our patients
ask us how they can straighten their teeth without braces.
Our answer is Invisalign®, a product
we are pleased to offer. With Invisalign®, Dr. Salamy
and Dr. Snyder use a series of customized aligners
to orthodontically move your teeth. Each aligner is
usually worn for two weeks. With each successive aligner,
your teeth are slowly moved into the desired location. Treatment
is often completed in ten to twelve months.
If you have crooked teeth and think that Invisalign may be
right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Salamy or
Dr. Snyder. We would be happy to examine your mouth and discuss
the benefits of Invisalign with you. |
Migraine Prevention and
the NTI-Tss
While there are many reasons people are prone to regular
headaches and migraines, researchers believe one of the causes
may be unconscious clenching or teeth-grinding in your sleep. When
you clench or grind your teeth, your muscles may become
tender or sore, leading to headaches or migraines during
the day.
If you suffer from headaches or migraines, talk to
Dr. Salamy and Dr. Snyder about the NTI-Tss device. This
clear mouthpiece is worn on your front teeth and keeps
your back molars from touching. People cannot clench
as strongly on their front teeth as they can on their
back teeth. This decrease
in the intensity of muscle contraction with the device in
place often relieves the headache and jaw pain associated
with night time clenching. During our initial examination,
Dr. Salamy or Dr. Snyder will check for grinding, clenching,
TMD, and other neuromuscular problems so they can treat you.
If you have headaches or migraines, schedule a consultation
with Dr. Salamy or Dr. Snyder to see if the NTI-Tss device
might be right for you. |
Cosmetic Dentistry
Over the last decade, the science of
dentistry has evolved beyond simply filling cavities
and removing wisdom teeth. There are a myriad of cosmetic
services available to enhance just about any aspect
of your smile.
Dr. Salamy and Dr. Snyder love to talk
to patients about enhancing their smile with porcelain
veneers, crowns, whitening, and other cosmetic treatments.
We can create a treatment plan to make your desired
smile a reality. |
Periodontal Disease
Prevention
Many people are aware of periodontal or gum disease;
however, most never suspect they have it. Periodontal
disease begins when bacteria accumulates in the gum tissue
pockets between your teeth. Since the damage these microbes
inflict is painless, most patients never realize they have
the condition until we see them. If left untreated for
too long, periodontal disease can cause tooth mobility
and eventually tooth loss. Periodontal disease has also
been linked to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other
afflictions.
At Pomerado Dental, we have a variety of services
to treat the damage caused by gum disease. We can scale
the roots of your teeth to remove build-up. We also
have Arestin, an antibiotic that can destroy bacteria
in the hard to reach pockets around your teeth.
Schedule an appointment with one of our dental hygienists
today to have your teeth cleaned and examined for periodontal
disease.
Tooth Colored Fillings
In the old days, all cavities were filled with silver
fillings. They were good restorations and are still being
done today. Now, however, we have a choice. Many
patients prefer tooth colored fillings which are made
of a composite material that looks identical to your
tooth structure. People often prefer the more natural
look and metal-free composite fillings.
Your old silver fillings will last a long time (sometimes
even decades), but they will not last forever. As they
wear down and deteriorate over time, you now have choices
when it is time to replace them. |
Root Canals
Although the outside of your tooth is made
of durable enamel, the inside of your tooth has soft nerve
tissue called the pulp. When a cavity reaches
this nerve tissue, or trauma to the tooth damages the
nerve in some way, a root canal is often needed to
both remove the infected nerve tissue and to relieve
you of any pain.
If you think you need a root canal,
schedule an appointment with Dr. Salamy or Dr. Snyder
today by calling 858-487-4888.
Dentures and Partial Dentures
Missing teeth can affect
the way you look and feel. Dentures and partial dentures
can restore your smile as well as help you function
and chew more effectively.
Dr. Salamy and Dr. Snyder work with Dr. Howard Zynkian,
a professional with sixty years experience in the denture
field. Dr. Howard works with our lab to fabricate natural
looking dentures and partial dentures that are almost
undetectable in your mouth.
You can call our practice to schedule a consultation
with Dr. Zynkian.
Dental Implants
If you’re uncomfortable with your
dentures, have trouble chewing due to missing teeth, or
wish there was a way to restore the functionality of your
old teeth, we may recommend dental implants.
With implants, a
titanium screw is placed in the bone where a tooth is missing.
When a specially made crown, bridge or denture is attached
to the implant, it permanently holds the new tooth or teeth
in place. You can do most things with confidence – laugh,
talk, eat and smile – as
you did with your natural teeth.
Dental implants are safe, effective, and preserve
the health of your mouth more effectively than bridges
or dentures can. Most people in good general health
are ideal candidates for dental implants. If you think
this procedure may be right for you, schedule an appointment
with Dr. Salamy or Dr. Snyder today by calling 858-487-4888.
